    Orange Milestone

While walking a long way by road, if you see the milestones along the shore, painted in orange color. So you will immediately understand that you are moving towards a village or towards a rural area. Because orange color is applied on the roadside milestones to be constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana.

    Green Milestone

When traveling by car, if you start seeing milestones painted green instead of orange. So it will be understood without delay that you have come on the ‘State Highway‘ built by the state government to connect the two states through a rural road built to connect the rural areas under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana.

    Yellow Milestone

After this, when you start seeing yellow colored milestones on both sides of the road, this means that you are now traveling on the ‘National Highway‘. The responsibility of the construction and maintenance of national highways falls on the central government. The National Highway was constructed with the objective of connecting the states of the country by road.

    Black Milestone

Black colored milestones on the side of the road indicate to you that soon you are about to enter a big city or city in the country. This is the reason why you will see milestones painted in black only in big cities like Delhi, Gurgaon, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore.
