The game pattern has reduced to 20 overs, so the batsmen try some new ways to score runs with a fast pace. However, there was a time when the batsmen’s strike rates close to 100 would have been considered astonishing. In fact, there were some instances in the past where a batsman reached his ton without scoring a single boundary. Yes, you read it right. Here are 3 batsmen in the history of cricket who made a century without hitting any boundary and completed it by running between the wickets.

    Alan Hill

He was an English player who played between 1972 to 1986. He also did umpiring later. In his career, Alan played 258 first-class matches and 155 List-A matches, scoring 12356 and 3518 runs at an average of 36.49 and 26.45 respectively. He scored 103 runs in a first-class match for Orange Free State against Griqualand West at Bloemfontein in 1976-77 just by running between the wickets.

    Paul Hibbert

He was an Australian player who died in 2008. It was in 1977-78 when he made exactly 100 runs against India when the Indian team toured Australia for a two-match test series. He had a very short career in cricket that lasted for 4 years only from 1974-1978.

    Bill Woodfull

He was also an Australian cricketer who played for his country between the 1920s to 1930s. During Australia’s tour of England in 1926 at The Oval, Woodfull scored a century without hitting a boundary. He made unbeaten 118 runs.
