Food brings a convergence of taste, culture and preferences which is shared through experiment, experience and expertise. It binds every soul through the wholesome mix of flavors and aroma. Bollywood have also gained inspiration and have made an attempt to produce fulfilling films which would please every person who love and live to eat.
The Lunchbox
Sajan Fernandes, played by the late Irrfan Khan, and Ila, played by Nimrat Kaur, become friends over a lost lunchbox. The way two lonely strangers begin communicating with one another through letters left in a lunchbox is both quite uncommon and quite lovely. The Ritesh Batra-directed movie from 2013 is a modern classic that emphasises the value of cooking, dining, and telling stories.
Chef
A remake of the popular Jon Favreau movie of the same name, “Chef,” starring Saif Ali Khan, was released in 2017. In the context of India, the movie retells the tale of a burnt-out chef. When Roshan and his son set up a food truck and travel the nation, all kinds of cuisine are included in the movie, from parathas to pizzas to the appetizing-looking “rottza,” which is a hybrid of roti and pizza.
Stanley Ka Dabba
The focus of Amol Gupte’s film Stankey Ka Dabba, which stars Partho Gupta as a young schoolboy named Stanley, is not so much on the food as it is on what it means to Stanley because he has no one to prepare meals for him. Stanley never has anything to eat during school break while everyone eats from their tiffin boxes. It is about a little child’s desire for affection, everyday life, and food that has been packed for him in a tiffin by a caring adult.
Bawarchi
Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s 1972 film “Bawarchi” demonstrates the significant influence that food has on how a family runs. In the movie, a discordant family hires a chef (Rajesh Khanna), who begins by cleaning the courtyard before cooking vegetarian kebabs, controlling everyone’s eating habits, teaching them music and dancing, and also introducing them to a chilled, lime-spiked cola that unites them.
Daawat-e-Ishq
In the 2014 movie “Daawat-e-Ishq,” Aditya Roy Kapur plays the Lucknowian chef and restaurant owner Tariq, and Parineeti Chopra plays Gulrez, a young woman who has trouble finding a husband because of the enormous dowry requirements of her potential suitors. The movie’s depictions of chicken, mutton, and Tunday kebabs will have you salivating.
