    56 people killed in the ethnic clash in South Sudan

    Clash in the South Sudan have taken life of around 56 people during four days scuffle in the eastern Jonglei state. This comes after youth from the Nuer community lashed out violently with the ethnic group, on Tuesday.

    The territory of South Sudan, post independence in 2011 have faced dispute over cattle and land. An armed Nuer attacked the Murle community a local group on 24 Dec in the Gumuruk County and Likuangole County, reported Abraham Kelang, official in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area.

    “The government is managing to help the communities, but the fighting is still ongoing,” Kelang told Reuters via., telephone. He added that 51 people have been killed and all of them belonged to the Nuer, out of which only five Murle defenders were killed.

    Previously, the United Nations peacekeeping mission (UNMISS) said that armed Nuer youth have been mobilized before the possible raid by the Murle defenders.
