Based on preliminary findings, it appears that five of them were traveling to Kashmir when they were picked up from Bathindi, having arrived in Jammu with the assistance of a tout.
Another woman, a citizen of Bangladesh, was detained from Gandhi Nagar. She had married in the Ramban district of Jammu. According to officials, she was expected to travel to Kashmir with the other women and girls.
According to them, the detainees range in age from 14 to 60.
Six citizens of Bangladesh are being held in Jammu for entering India illegally.
