The 1980s pleased with the growth of new genres – both in cinema and in music. A new wave and electronics began to emerge, and in the USSR, thanks to the easing of censorship, the “golden era” of Russian rock began. While Madonna was glorified across the ocean, in the domestic show business they were looking at other stars. Luckily, they were more than enough.

With these famous girls, many associates the era of the 80s. Their beauty, creativity, and behavior were so bright and unusual that they firmly entered the history of domestic show business. Admire these beauties from the past in our material.

    Roxana Babayan

In the 1970s, Roxana Babayan was invited to the Blue Guitars VIA. The fate of the young singer changed after winning the Dresden-1976 vocal competition in the GDR. Thanks to this, Babayan was nominated for the Soviet “Song of the Year – 1977”. Already in the early 80s, Roxana was one of the ten most popular singers in the Soviet Union.

    Irina Ponarovskaya

Irina was still a student at the Leningrad Conservatory when she was called to the Singing Guitars ensemble. A young, bright, and talented girl was immediately noticed: before graduating from the university, she became the star of the rock opera Orpheus and Eurydice. In the late 1980s, Irina Ponarovskaya became a national pop star – although for the first time she was loved and recognized abroad. At one of the festivals in Poland, the singer was asked nine times to give an encore.

    Olga Zarubina

Olga became famous in 1979 when she first performed in Blue Light. After that, Zarubina did not disappear from the screens: she sang, then she broadcast. In 1980, the artist leaves VIA “Music” and begins a solo career.

    Sofia Rotaru

In the 1980s, Sofia Rotaru was already a Soviet superstar with fans all over the world. However, even at the peak of her career, the singer never ceased to amaze the audience – usually with the help of an image. So, Rotaru was one of the first to give concerts not in dresses, but in trouser suits.

    Laima Vaikule

After eight years of high school, Lyme left medical school – she really wanted to be a doctor. However, composers noticed the 15-year-old girl, and soon she became a soloist with the Riga Radio and Television Orchestra under the direction of Raimonds Pauls. In the 80s, the whole USSR knew about her: the fatal Latvian artist did not leave anyone indifferent – neither with her songs nor with her appearance.

    Irina Allegro

    Irina Allegro

In 1985, Irina Allegrova performed for the first time at the Song of the Year song festival. Then she had no idea that she would become a regular at such events and the main “empress” of Russian show business. At first, the singer performed with the Lights of Moscow ensemble, and in the early 90s, she preferred a solo career.

    Natalya Gulkina

    Natalya Gulkina

Already in childhood, Natalya Gulkina played the guitar and wrote songs. At first, her “tours” were limited to pioneer camps and graduations. Later, the artist Svetlana Razina introduced Gulkina to Andrei Lityagin – at that time he was looking for a vocalist for the Mirage women’s group. Margarita Sukhankina, the second member of the group, refused to record new songs, as she was building a career at the Bolshoi Theater.

    Svetlana Razina

Svetlana Razina was the star of the cult group Mirage. She remained in the team even after the departure of Natalya Gulkina – then Natalya Vetlitskaya and Inna Smirnova joined the team. It is Svetlana’s voice that you hear when you replay such hits as “The New Hero” and “I’m Not Kidding”.

    Alena Apina

An ordinary student of the conservatory named Lena at one point became Alena – and even the soloist of the Combination group. At first, the girl worked part-time in the team only during the holidays, and in the late 80s, she became its full member.
