Aamir Khan’s as of late released movie Laal Singh Chaddha didn’t do well at the box office. The movie became a victim of the boycott culture on social media and hence couldn’t have a good run at the ticket window. Prior the makers decided that the movie would be making its digital release 6 months post its theatrical run. In any case, buzz is that the ‘3 Idiots’ will have to worry in terms of Laal Singh Chaddha’s OTT release after its failure at the box office.
Aamir Khan was at first in talks with Netflix for the streaming rights of Laal Singh Chaddha. As per a report in Mid-day, the said deal has failed. Before the movie’s release, Aamir had cited Rs 150 crore and asked for a six-month window as he was in talks to release the movie in China as well. Presently the streaming giant had offered him Rs 50 crores and likewise requested him to reduce the 6-month window.
Once asked to revise the price, Aamir negotiated for Rs 125 crores deal as he was sure that Laal Singh Chaddha will have a smooth box office run. With the movie not doing well at the box official, the streaming giant has likewise lost interest in acquiring it. Reportedly, the makers have not found any takers and presently the studio that backed the film is planning to release it on a platform of the group.
