    Actor-singer Jane Birkin passes away at 76; found dead at her home

    British-origin actress and singer Jane Birkin, who became a household name in the 1960s passed away in Paris at 76, the French Culture Ministry mentioned on Sunday.

    Le Parisien newspaper and BFM television posted in a report that the actor was traced dead at her home. She also faced a stroke in 2021 post suffering heart issues.

    Birken was famous overseas for her 1969’s “Je t’aime…moi non plus”.

    Post her split with British composer John Barry in 1960s, she resided in France. She was also a part of many films and also advocated women’s rights and LGBT rights.

    “This departure is so sad. She was a beautiful person,” erstwhile Culture Minister Roselyne Bachelot mentioned while speaking to BFM.

    She was born in London in December 1946 to British actress Judy Campbell and Royal Navy commander David Birkin.

    She also had a daughter, Charlotte, with ex -husband Gainsbourg.

    Post her breakup in 1981, she went on for many stage performances and launched albums like “Baby Alone in Babylone” in 1983, and “Amour des Feintes” in 1990.

    She penned her own album “Arabesque” in 2002, and later in 2009 launched a series of live recordings, “Jane at the Palace”.
