When Anil Kapoor deleted all of his Instagram postings on Friday, including his profile photo, followers were taken aback. With his daring action, the seasoned actor—who has more than 5 million followers—also startled his son-in-law Anand Ahuja and daughter Sonam Kapoor. Fans initially thought it was a promotional stunt for Anil Kapoor’s next movie, Animal, but a News18 article suggested there was a link between the action and Mr. India 2. According to a source cited in the report, “Anil Kapoor has gone ‘invisible’ on social media as a point to kick off Mr India 2. Like his character in Mr India (1987), he is going invisible on social media.” Meanwhile Boney Kapoor added, “Let me see, I haven’t seen it myself. But he [Anil Kapoor] did mention to me that he wants to show me something.”
When fans asked about the sequel of the film, Boney Kapoor mentioned, “I don’t think I will be able to talk about (Mr India 2’s announcement) until everything matures.”
In the meantime, Sonam Kapoor responded to her father Anil Kapoor’s decision to remove every Instagram post. On her Instagram stories, the actress posted a screen grab of Anil Kapoor’s page with the caption, “Dad!!??”
Anand Ahuja shared the same screenshot, tagging Anil Kapoor and adding a hat-wearing clapping hand emoticon—possibly alluding to the actor’s former hat-wearing role as Mr. India’s Arun Verma.
Regarding Mr. India, Sridevi and Anil Kapoor’s movie was well ahead of its time.
