Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal is all set to grace the silver screens soon. Meanwhile, a piece of interesting information about the 500 kg machine gun used in the film has surfaced. Here’s what the production designer Suresh Selvarajan clarified.
Ahead of the film’s release the creators of the movie “Animal,” featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor, recently attended a promotional event in Chennai. During the press conference, they were asked a question about the authenticity of the machine gun scene in the trailer, as it faced criticism on social media for possibly being Computer-generated imagery (CGI).
To this, the production designer Suresh Selvarajan, clarified that the 500 kg machine gun was crafted entirely from real steel over a four-month period and is not CGI. This unique creation will be featured in an 18-minute action sequence during the interval. Selvarajan mentioned, “I never saw such a thing happen for any Indian film.

Also, the lead actor Ranbir Kapoor shared his thoughts on the scene, describing how he approached shooting with such a massive piece of weaponry. he said “I remember the first time Suresh Anna showed us the war machine, I was shocked. He created it from scratch. It is such an original piece. It was a great idea that Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Suresh Anna had. He further continued saying “We are not shooting with actual guns. We have to pretend, imagine that if we are operating a machine so large, what would that do to our body, and our ears because we have to keep shooting for hours. I really had to imagine that they were not real because the bullets were coming under siege. That is the magic of movies.”
