The Indian delegation in the Asian Games 2023 dazzled everyone with their outstanding performances and concluded with an unprecedented haul of 107 medals. It included 41 bronze medals, 38 silver medals, and 28 gold medals—a competition record for India. It also had 38 silver medals and 38 bronze medals.

Pakistan, on the other hand, was only able to take home 3 medals at the Asian Games in 2023—one silver and two bronze. The two bronze medals were won in the sports of kabaddi and shooting, while the silver medal was won by India in the men’s team squash competition, which was a closely contested summit match.

After an hour of disputes, the Indian men’s kabaddi team triumphed to win back the Asian Games championship by defeating the defending winners Iran 33-29.

In a nail-biting championship match, the women’s team edged off Chinese Taipei 26-25 to win the nation’s 100th medal.

Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty defeated Choi Solgyu and Kim Wonho of South Korea in straight games on Sunday in Hangzhou to capture India’s first badminton gold medal at the Asian Games.

Satwik and Chirag, ranked third in the world, who made history by being the first Indian team to prevail at the Asian championships in 58 years in March this year, continued their incredible run by defeating Choi and Kim, ranked fifteenth, by scores of 21-18, 21-16, to claim the championship trophy.

Additionally, it was India’s first medal in men’s doubles in 41 years, when Pradeep Gandhe and Leroy D’sa won bronze in the 1982 competition.

Due to their superior seeding in the continental championship on Saturday, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led Indian men’s cricket team won the gold medal in their Asian Games debut after their final match versus Afghanistan was postponed due to rain.

When Afghanistan was given the opportunity to bat, they were 112 for 5 in 18.2 overs when the Zhejiang University of Technology Cricket Field was forced to call a halt to play. The game was never resumed after that point.
