During the violence in Bengaluru yesterday, a mob of Muslims ransacked the house of Congress MLA Akhand Srinivas Murthy and also targeted the police station. The rioters attacked the police using guerrilla techniques and set the vehicles on fire. Whatever happened in Bengaluru during the violence yesterday, people here are extremely scared and still there is an atmosphere of tension here. However, the police has now controlled the situation.

Violent mob of Muslims used guerrilla technic in the violence that took place in Kavalabirasandra, KG Halli and DJ Halli areas yesterday. The violence started at 7 pm yesterday and lasted for about 7 hours. At 10 o’clock at night, a violent mob created a commotion outside KG Halli and DJ Halli police station and set the police vehicles on fire. At the same time, when the force was sent to help the policemen trapped in two stations. So the rioters threw bottles and stones at them too. Similarly, this violence continued till 2 in the night.

Giving information about the violence, Police Commissioner Kamal Pant said that along with 75 police officers I had to walk through the small streets of KG Halli. While we were walking. Stones were then thrown at the streetlights. Due to which the area became dark. After darkness, we were attacked with utensils, stones, bottles, tires, wooden bags and bricks. Many policemen were injured in this. After which orders were given for firing.

Fire brigade worker told an English newspaper about the violence that ‘two vehicles had already reached the spot and were working to extinguish the fire in the vehicles. But half a kilometer before the station, a mob blocked the way. Our vehicle’s glass broke. We were taken out and they started beating us. However a team of armed police saw us and came towards us. But the crowd also surrounded them.’

Section 144 of the CRPC has been implemented to control the situation. On this matter, the Karnataka Home Minister yesterday issued a statement saying that “the matter is under investigation.” Additional forces have been deployed in the area in view of security and action will be taken against the miscreants.” Three people have died in this violence. While 60 policemen have been injured in the violence and more than 110 people have been arrested.
