In a fresh interview, Barbie director Greta Gerwig stated that the use of color pink in the movie was intensified to such an extent that it created a global shortage of the color.

The Barbie movie used so much pink paint on set that it caused an international shortage.

While speaking to Architecture Digest, Greta who collaborated with production designer Sarah Greenwood and set decorator Katie Spencer had said, “I wanted to capture what was so ridiculously fun about the Dreamhouses… Why walk down stairs when you can slide into your pool? Why trudge up stairs when you take an elevator that matches your dress?… We were literally creating the alternate universe of Barbie Land… Maintaining the ‘kid-ness’ was paramount. I wanted the pinks to be very bright, and everything to be almost too much. The world ran out of pink.”

The newly launched trailer also showed shots brimming with pink aesthetic, houses, equipment, furniture and clothes. Barbie features Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie and Ken who experience a topsy turvey span or events when they approach for the real world. It also stars Simu Liu, Will Ferrell, Emma Mackey, Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Ncuti Gatwa, Connor Swindells, and America Ferrara.

It is set to hit the theatres on July 21.
