Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam is remembered not only for its beautiful songs and heartwarming story but also for the behind-the-scenes dynamics between its cast and crew. This film holds a special place in Bollywood history and the significance of this film is it was made when Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai reportedly fell in love. Not just they were on screen lovers but their relationship outside the film was also growing. However Salman had developed very serious romantic interest to Aishwarya Rai, and he was very protective of her. He was said to be very much around her during the shoot and incidences like that of ‘attacking’ the director only added to the buzz about their relationship. Smita Jayakar, who played Aishwarya Rai’s on-screen mother in the film, recently revealed that both Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai’s bond was intense. She said “I remembered one scene from the song Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan, where Salman had to go around as Ash stood next to me. So during the shoot of ‘Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan’ director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was explaining the nuances of a scene to Aishwarya Rai. During this, he touched her arm to explain a movement, however, this gesture irritated Salman Khan.
Salman’s Possessive attitude
Though the issue was sorted out early enough, it made people see a glimpse of what possessive attitude Salman Khan had over Aishwarya Rai. The fact is that Aishwarya Rai and Salman khan were once in love with each other but their relationship took a bad turn after some time. But this incident,showed how much Salman was possessive toward Aishwarya.The two called it quit in 2001, as their relationship appeared beautiful but underneath were lots of issues. Once in an interview about her break up with Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai said that after he was drunk he and became abusive with her.
