Addressing the issue, Personal coach Shivohaam recently took to his Instagram and shared some quick tips that can help to manage your calorie count when you plan to hang out with your friends.

    Moderate the drink and do not add up too many calories

    The coach firstly clarified that he does not encourage drinking, but if a person drinks socially, he should stick to 1-2 drinks at one time. All types of alcohol contain calories, so it is better to take it in moderation than to regret it later. Excessive drinking regularly not only derails your weight loss plan but also leads to several health issues.

    He explained that alcohol is already high in calories. When you add two drinks (cocktails) or mix the drink in any soft drink, you further increase the calorie count. So, it is best to have a hard drink or mix your drink in water or diet soda to keep a watch on your calorie count. Hard drinks like whiskey, gin, tequila contain fewer calories as compared to soft drinks like beer and wine.

    Have drinks with veggies and protein

    Have your drink with protein or vegetables, instead of complex carbs like fries, chips, rice or pasta. That is because complex carbs are also high in calories and can immediately spike your blood sugar level. Protein and vegetables are healthier and manage to keep your blood sugar in control. So, when you are already drinking alcohol, which is rich in calories, have food that can help to balance it.

    Fast after a night of drinking

    Last but not the least, he suggests fasting for 16 hours after your last meal to the first meal on the other morning. Fasting can help to manage the calorie count and also remove the toxins from the body. After the fasting phase, the first meal you have the other day should contain some protein and fat to help you get rid of the side effects of drinking. Also, try to avoid complex carbs in the morning.
