Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have officially confirmed that their much-anticipated charity cage match will take place and will be live-streamed on X (formerly known as Twitter). The tech moguls made the announcement, stating that all the proceeds generated from the fight would be directed towards supporting veterans’ charities.
Speculations about a potential showdown between the two billionaires began in June when Elon Musk reacted to a tweet about Facebook’s launch of Threads. He expressed humorously that he was concerned about the world being exclusively under Zuckerberg’s influence but was relieved that at least it would be “sane.”
A Twitter user cautioned Musk about Zuckerberg’s jiu-jitsu skills, to which Musk lightheartedly replied that he was up for a cage match if Zuckerberg was interested.
As the rivalry escalated, Musk and his team filed a legal case against Zuckerberg’s Meta for alleged plagiarism of X. Additionally, Musk took a dig at Zuckerberg with a provocative post referring to him as “Zuck is a cuck.”
While it remains unclear how skilled Musk is in the realm of physical combat, his potential opponent, Zuckerberg, has demonstrated proficiency in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, winning gold and silver medals in a recent tournament.
UFC boss Dana White revealed that it was Zuckerberg who first approached him about the possibility of the fight, and both billionaires seem genuinely committed to the idea. White touted the potential of the match as the most significant fight in history, projecting record-breaking pay-per-view numbers and the potential to raise hundreds of millions of dollars for charity, making it an event of universal interest beyond the realm of typical fight fans.
