Due to the lockdown theaters have been closed for 6 months. And the film industry has been badly affected this year due to Coronavirus. Because of this millions of people have been affected badly. Perhaps not only the staff but also the film producers are left in bad condition. Meanwhile, there was a conversation with trade analyst, multiplex owner, Raj Bansal to know the position of the Indian film industry for the past 6 months. And the closure of the theatre. And here’s what he told.

Bansal who has been active in the distribution for 40 years, said that there was a loss of 1500 crores overall. If we consider the average of two Hindi films every week, then 40 to 50 films would be released in these six months but unfortunately, it was stuck due to the pandemic. If English versions of English, Tamil-Telugu, and other languages are also included, then the figure reaches 70 to 80.

He further said that once the cinema opens up most probably the movies that were supposed to hit the screen by March 2020 and the previous blockbusters (of the last few years) will be released first so that the mood of the audience can be seen. However, no one will take the full risk for the new films. New movies with short films will be introduced after two weeks. And later two big films ‘Suryavanshi’ and ’83‘ will be released on the occasion of Diwali and Christmas.

    Shootings Resume

Talking about the shootings let us tell you that owing to the pandemic. The shoots in the entertainment business came to standstill. But now post lockdown those films are again coming on the floor. And the shootings of some films started. Recently Aamir Khan has reached Turkey for the shoot of ‘Lal Singh Chadha’. Akshay Kumar has started shooting for ‘Bell Bottom’ in the UK. Whereas Milap Zaveri has reached Lucknow to see the location for the shooting of ‘Satyamev Jayate-2’. Well, let us tell you that the films will be made but the release schedule may fluctuate.

As far as the release of other films is concerned many films owing to the pandemic got released on OTT platforms. While the release date of some has shifted further. There is no doubt that the year 2019 was best ever for the film industry but who no one knew that 2020 will turn out to be worst. And as per Raj Bansal, this loss cannot be managed for the next two-three years.
