Chandrayaan 3 has completed a number of mission goals days after landing on the lunar south pole. Two of the three objectives have already been accomplished, according to a Saturday evening report provided by the Indian Space Research Organisation. On the lunar surface, in-situ scientific investigations are still being carried out by the lander and rover.

“Of the 3 mission objectives, demonstration of a safe and soft landing on the lunar surface is accomplished. Demonstration of Rover roving on the moon is accomplished. Conducting in-situ scientific experiments is underway. All payloads are performing normally,”  the space agency made a tweet on X.

Earlier this week, the Chandrayaan-3 lander had successfully landed on the moon. India is the first nation to reach the south pole of the moon and the fourth nation to set foot there.

The landing location would be known as “Shiv Shakti Point,” according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s earlier announcement on Saturday, while “Tiranga Point” will be the name of the spot where the Chandrayaan-2 lander crashed-landed on the moon in 2019.

In the meantime, the Indian Space Research Organisation has published a brand-new video showing the Pragyan rover exploring the area near Shiv Shakti point, the location of lander Vikram’s lunar touchdown.
