On Monday, China reported that US has released balloons over the Chinese airspace in irregular intervals for more than 10 times since January 2022 last year with no requisite permission, especially when it comes to the incumbent scuffle between the two countries. In the cue of this event, earlier this month, the American authorities has shot down a Chinese spy balloon hovering over the airspace.
“Since last year, the US’s high-altitude balloons have undergone more than 10 illegal flights into Chinese airspace without the approval of the relevant Chinese departments,” Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin averred in Beijing, on Monday.
Wang stated that China’s responses to the incursions were “responsible and professional”. He further added that the US has misinterpreted and abused the tech advancements which aimed at channelizing large-scale clandestine operations.
While on the other hand the authorities in Beijing has criticised the shooting down of civilian research craft and accused Washington of overreacting to the instance.
The US military has successively shot down three other flying objects hovering over North America, a Bloomberg report read.
On Friday, Washington blacklisted six Chinese aviation and technology ventures as an answer to the suspicious Chinese civilian balloon.
The US commerce department averred that the five companies and a research institute were endorsing “China’s military modernisation efforts, specifically the People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) aerospace programmes including airships and balloons”.
“Washington’s escalation and expanding of the political implications of the airship case is a sign that US economic and foreign policy has been completely hijacked by its political machines, which is having economic consequences not only on the two countries, but also on global industrial chains,” Global Times averred in a report.
