Leading Chinese daily Global Times praised India on Tuesday, describing it as “more strategically confident” and “proactive” in creating a “Bharat narrative.”

Amidst tensions between the two nuclear-armed countries following the 2020 Galwan Valley hostilities, it also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration for the country’s achievements in economic, social, and foreign policy domains.

According to PTI, Zhang Jiadong, the director of Shanghai’s Fudan University’s Center for South Asian Studies, wrote a piece outlining New Delhi’s accomplishments over the previous four years.

“India is indeed a major power, and rapid changes in internal and external strategies pose challenges to both itself and the international community. It appears that a transformed, stronger, and more assertive India has become a new geopolitical factor that many countries need to consider,” Jiadong mentioned in its article.

Recognizing India’s strong economic expansion, advancements in urban administration, and change in perspective toward global ties, particularly those with China. Additionally, the article in the Global Times, which is published by the Communist nation, mentioned how India changed its emphasis from emphasizing its democratic consensus with the west to showcasing the “Indian feature” of democratic politics.

“Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed power, he has advocated for a multi-alignment strategy, promoting India’s relations with the US, Japan, Russia and other countries and regional organisations,” the article mentioned.
