Do you think using your cards or mobile wallets to pay for petrol is inconvenient? Are you sick of using a QR code scanner to pay for petrol using UPI? If your automobile is connected to the internet, you won’t need your wallet or phone for making payments any more.

A contactless payment system that leverages a car’s infotainment system to make purchases at petrol stations has been developed by three businesses, including fintech company ToneTag and the National purchases Corporation of India (NPCI). Pay-by-car is an innovative payment system that promises to give automobile owners ease and security.

Pay-by-car’s emphasis on security is one of its benefits. Since the system employs encrypted sound waves, the likelihood of fraud is decreased. It also does away with the need for extra speakers or gadgets, making it a cost-efficient option.

Utilising GPS, the system may inform the café or restaurant of the order and anticipated arrival time. As a result, there is no waiting and car owners may enjoy their lunch or coffee at the drive-in or table.

As part of a partnership with BPCL, the pay-by-car feature is now offered in the MG Hector vehicle. However, ToneTag is in discussions to incorporate this payment technology into next automobile models with additional internet-enabled automakers, including Hyundai, Kia, Mahindra, and Maruti Suzuki.

However, the relevant businesses have taken steps to resolve refund procedures and client concerns and are dedicated to protecting consumer privacy.

In general, pay-by-vehicle provides automobile owners with a simple and practical payment method, doing away with the need for actual wallets or phones.
