Monday night, there was more violence in the Thoubal area of Manipur that resulted in three gunshot deaths and five injuries. In order to stop the violence from getting worse, the state’s five valley districts immediately had curfews reinstated by the government.

According to PTI, the curfew has been enforced in the districts of Thoubal, Imphal East and Imphal West, Kakching, and Bishnupur.

In a video message, Chief Minister N Biren Singh urged people to uphold peace and denounced the violence. He stated the police were attempting to apprehend the perpetrators of the incident.

“They will be arrested soon and punished as per the law,” he said.

According to the news agency, a number of residents in the Lilong Chingjao region were the targets of the unidentified gunmen. They were dressed in camouflage.

Three people passed away right away. Five are in the hospital receiving treatment.

Then three cars were set on fire by enraged townspeople.

Since May 3, there have been around 197 deaths as a result of ethnic conflict between the Meiteis and the Kuki tribe.

The majority of Meiteis, who make up roughly 53% of Manipur’s population, reside in the Imphal Valley. Of the total population, forty percent are Kukis and Nagas.

“Around 3:30 am a heavy exchange of fire took place between village volunteers of both Kuki and Meitei communities in between the hill ranges of Nakhujang and Singda Kuki villages under Kangchup police station. The exchange of fire lasted till around 4:20 am,” a police official reported.
