In his next biography, actor Dhanush will play music maestro Ilaiyaraaja. Filming is expected to start early next year, according to Manobala Vijayabalan, a film trade analyst. In 2025, the untitled movie will be released.
Manobala posted on X, “Filming for the much-anticipated Official Biopic based on the life and times of the Music Maestro, Isaignani #ILAIYARAAJA with the very versatile and talented #Dhanush portraying the legendary composer on screen to commence on October 2024. Film will release in mid 2025.”
Additionally, he posted pictures of Dhanush and Ilaiyaraaja. The first picture shows Dhanush sitting close to Ilaiyaraaja. They were dressed in ethnic white clothing. In the following photo, Dhanush was positioned beside Ilaiyaraaja as they grinned for the camera. Dhanush was dressed in black and white for the picture.

About the legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja
Ilaiyaraaja has written the music for more than 1,000 films and more than 7,000 songs. He has given more than 20,000 shows. “Isaignani” (the musical sage) is the moniker given to Ilaiyaraaja.
Over his career, he was recognized for his efforts with several accolades. The greatest honour bestowed upon artists in India, the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award was granted to him in 2012. He received the Padma Bhushan in 2010 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2018.
In D51, Dhanush and Nagarjuna will share the lead roles. Sekhar Kammula is directing the movie, and Rashmika Mandanna is involved as well.
