Bappi Lahiri had said, ‘On Dhanteras, I asked my wife to bring me a gold tea set. I saw a beautiful tee set and I wanted to have it. So she went shopping and bought gold for me on this holy day and brought it. Talking about the rest of his jewellery, Bappi Lahiri had said, ‘I did not take gold chain this time. I have everything in Gold. I thought a tea set or a cup and plate would be better. I have named this piece on God, Balaji is there, Ganpati Bappa and Hare Krishna. This gold is like beautiful memories for me. Like Hare Krishna Chain was the first peace my mother gave me. Later my wife gave me Ganpati Bappa gold chain. I also have a collection of gold bracelets which my wife has bought.’
Bappi Lahiri had contested the Lok Sabha elections from Serampore in West Bengal on a BJP ticket in the year 2014, when he gave details of his assets to the Election Commission. While filing the nomination at that time, he had given details of gold and silver in addition to his total assets through affidavit. According to that affidavit, Bappi Lahiri had 754 grams of gold, which was (at that time) worth Rs 17,67,451 lakh.
Apart from this, Bappi Lahiri also had 4.62 kg of silver. The price of this silver (at that time) was around Rs 1,99,000. At the same time, its current price has become around Rs 2.91 lakh. Gold lover Bappi Lahiri had total assets of Rs 12 crores. Not only this, according to the affidavit, he has 5 luxury cars including BMW and Audi. He has a Tesla X car which costs 55 lakh rupees.
