According to the results of a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) performed on Saturday, Rohit Sharma has tested positive for Covid-19. According to a BCCI press release, skipper Rohit has been placed in isolation, and an RT-PCR test to determine the infection’s severity has been scheduled for Sunday.
While participating in the recent warm-up match between India and Leicestershire, Rohit did not bat on Day 3 of India’s second innings. Roman Walker dismissed him after he had made 25 while opening the batting in the first innings.
With KL Rahul already being unavailable due to groin injury, and now Rohit being held under isolation, team India will have to change their plans to send suitable opening pair for the last Test match.
Mayank Agarwal is likely to be called as a replacement, which was earlier suggested during KL Rahul’s replacement issues but India did not go with any substitute.

BCCI confirmed the reports of skipper Rohit Sharma as they tweeted “UPDATE – #TeamIndia Captain Mr Rohit Sharma has tested positive for COVID-19 following a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) conducted on Saturday. He is currently in isolation at the team hotel and is under the care of the BCCI Medical Team.”
