The 2023 International Emmy Awards took place in New York and had 56 candidates from 20 different countries. With its UK series Derry Girls and Vir Das: Landing, a stand-up special featuring one of India’s top comedians, Vir Das, Netflix won accolades in the best comedy category.
Shefali Shah and Jim Sarbh, the other two Indian nominees, were not successful in winning any prizes, either. Actress Karla Souza, who starred in the Mexican television series La Caida, defeated Shefali.Instead of Jim, Martin Freeman won the prize for his role in The Responder.
