Skipper Stokes won the toss and allowed the Kiwis to bat first as the hosts wondered the pitch to be advantageous to bowl first but couldn’t be of much help as the Kiwis started well.
The 20 overs bowled by team England were perfectly defended by the Kiwis until the end of the Lunch giving the hosts not one but two wickets.
They were certainly thriving to get the opening duo’s wicket which was accomplished by skipper Ben Stokes himself along with “the player to watch out for” – James Anderson.
Jimmy has bowled just 9 overs and Nottingham does not seem to entertain the crowd as they did in the mighty iconic match of Lords.
While Conway and Henry are settling themselves up, this Lunch break must have been a strategical meeting for the hosts as they have the opportunity to break a pair before they get comforted in the summer noon of Trent Bridge.
The second test is a real test for the visitors as they need to take this opportunity to come back into the series after a terrible loss at the Lords.
The predictions are that New Zealand can set a score of almost 350 runs at the Trent Bridge which supposedly will help the Kiwi pacers to put their reigning performance. The first day of this second test is yet to take any turns and the first session statistically belongs to team New Zealand.
The only unfortunate news for the visitors is that the absence of Kane Williamson might affect them and the England unit might take the advantage of some inexperienced batters who will walk out for the Kiwis.
