British acting agency Troika is seeking to sue Game of Thrones star Lena Headey for $1.5 million over several projects, including Thor: Love and Thunder, which did not include footage of the actress in the final cut. It is reported by Variety.
Court documents state that Headey’s personal representative, Michael Duff, had previously quit Lou Carl Associates and founded his own, Troika (later renamed YMU).
Headey signed with a new agency in 2005, and in 2020 Duff left YMU along with Headey. Now YMU is claiming Headey’s alleged debt for 9 Lives, the pilot for the 2020 series Rita, and the superhero action thriller Thor: Love and Thunder. YMU refers not only to the commission for mediation but also to the losses incurred by the company due to the termination of the contract.
Headey, in turn, notes that she never signed a contract with YMU or Duff, limiting herself to verbal agreements. In addition, she worked with the American agency CAA, and her roles in Thor and 9 Lives were not discussed with either YMU representatives or Duff. So, she received a job offer in the blockbuster Thor: Love and Thunder after director Taika Waititi personally approached her. Who exactly the actress played and why the scenes with her were cut are not specified.
For Rita, Headey said, she has already paid the agency $22,750, deducted from her $325,000 fee. Apart from the filmed pilot episode, no new episodes are planned.
