Unfortunately, at the time of this writing, there is nothing official with respect to what’s in store. While Gentleman Jack airs on HBO here in the United States it comes on BBC One in the UK, where it wrapped a short time back. While we think the stateside performance could help whether it returns or not, we feel that HBO mostly takes its cues from the BBC with regards to a potential season 3. Ideally, something more will be uncovered over the next couple of months.
Fortunately, at least for now, there’s a justification behind hope. Season 2 built superbly off of what we saw the first go-around, and we certainly think that there is a big global audience who might be eager to look at check out more of Gentleman Jack whenever it comes on the air.
All in all, given that we get a season 3, when could it air? That’s the next big question, and the main response we can give is “potentially before too long.” There’s not frequently a particular timetable for British series to return to work and produce new episodes, however, we tend to think that there’s an opportunity for something else in either late 2023 or mid 2024. Getting the story together is the main thing to get done and from that point onward, the cast and crew must get back into production Once all of the episodes are in the can, that is where we can truly get a much better sense of what the BBC and afterward HBO will choose to do. Without a doubt, the British network will be the first to broadcast new episodes.
