The fashion queen and trailblazing actress Zendaya piqued fans’ curiosity when she decided to spend a low-key evening away from the glitter and splendor of the Golden Globes 2024 red carpet. Zendaya has missed the Golden Globes on previous occasions. For those who don’t know, the celebrity hasn’t attended the Golden Globes since 2016.

Many people would not be surprised that Zendaya isn’t attending the Golden Globes in 2024, especially if they are familiar with her previous Golden Globe appearances. It’s still unclear why she was unable to attend this important award presentation. However, it is worth noting that Zendaya, who won a Golden Globe award last year, didn’t receive a single nomination this year as her picture, Challengers, initially set for release on August 11, 2023, was moved to April 26, 2024, due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.
Zendaya mentioned to ELLE talked about her role as Tashi in Challengers, “I felt like it was a good step into a more, I guess you could say, ‘grown-up’ role and into that next phase.”
She skipped the event despite bagging award in a major category
Zendaya has a remarkable history with the Golden Globes, despite her recent absence. Zendaya won Best Performance by an Actress in a Dramatic Television Series at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards thanks to her outstanding performance in Euphoria. But in 2023, as in this year, she was not present in person to receive the award.
Jay Ellis accepted the award on the actor’s behalf and said, “Zendaya couldn’t be with us tonight. So, we are going to accept this award on her behalf. She’s busy, she’s working, y’all. It’s a good thing.”
It’s important to remember that Zendaya has consistently been associated with the Golden Globes. Her previous visit to the esteemed occasion took place in 2016.
