The Hit TV show Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai has mired in controversy. It gets accused of promoting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) schemes ahead of Lok Sabha elections. A complaint has filed against the makers of the show by Congress with EC (Election Commission).
Two serials ‘Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain’ and ‘Tujhse Hai Raabta’ have been identified by the Congress in which the characters can be seen supporting BJP’s schemes, Swach Bharat Abhiyan, Ujjwala Gas Yojana, and Mudra Yojana.
The party has filed a complaint to the Election Commission against the makers of these popular entertainment serials. A report published in a leading news website states, “Congress compared it with paid news and said that the Commission must intervene and initiate steps against the BJP as well as the channels.”
Congress is demanding a ban on these serials, Maharashtra Congress General Secretary Sachin Sawant said “We approached the Election Commission seeking a ban on the two channels for airing content that exalts the schemes and ruling party leaders. It violates the model code of conduct and betrays viewers.”
