This is the pride of our nation, this is not political, not communal and not religious! Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the star cricketer of India who was seen embracing India Army logo on his gloves while wicket-keeping on the field is in news. ICC, International Cricket Board has objected to the Indian Army Insignia on his Dhoni’s gloves saying it exceeds the number of logos permitted on specific gear and asks Dhoni to remove it.
ICC general manager, Claire Furlong stated that wicketkeeping gloves can only have two manufacturers’ logos, and the presence of a third on Dhoni’s gloves was a breach of conduct. Moreover, symbols denoting “political or religious identity” aren’t permitted as per the ICC rule-book. But as we told earlier it is not religious and political but patriotic.
ICC requests BCCI, The Board of Control for Cricket in India to ask Dhoni to remove the Indian Army logo. However, after ICC’s request, the Committee of Administrators (CoA) chief Vinod Rai has backed the former Indian captain. Vinod Rai said that the insignia is neither religious nor commercial and the BCCI stands behind Dhoni in the matter.
To let you know, as per ICC regulations, players can’t sport any commercial, religious or military logo. Rai also said, “And it is not the paramilitary regimental dagger that is embossed in his gloves. So Dhoni is not in breach of ICC regulations.”
