In a neck to neck fight, New Zealand lost against England even after reaching to the equal points, all thanks to ICC. To break the tie to get a final winner a super over was played between the two teams. England took the bat first and made 15 runs. Jos Buttler scored 7 runs including a boundary and Ben Stokes scored 8 runs including a boundary. Then New Zealand played its Super Over and made 15 runs with James Neesham’s 13 runs including a sixer, Martin Guptill’s 1 run and one extra run.
After England played its Super Over, ICC made a rule that there will be no Super Over again if the match will be a tie again and the team with a maximum number of boundaries in the match will lift the World Cup trophy.
