In the midst of a full-fledged conflict with the Hamas organisation in Gaza, India has begun Operation Ajay to aid in the repatriation of residents from Israel. In Israel, there are 18,000 Indians.
“Launching #OperationAjay to facilitate the return from Israel of our citizens who wish to return. Special charter flights and other arrangements are being put in place. Fully committed to the safety and well-being of our nationals abroad,” Foreign Minister S Jaishankar tweeted on X.
“The Embassy has emailed the first lot of registered Indian citizens for the special flight tomorrow. Messages to other registered people will follow for subsequent flights,” he wrote in another post.
Five days after Hamas militants carried out an unprecedented attack on Israeli territory, killing people in their homes and on the streets, Israel created an emergency government to carry out the battle against the organisation. Over the course of the previous five days, many have perished, and Israel’s response to the slaughter has been a major bombing of the Gaza Strip, which is governed by Hamas.
After days of back-and-forth bombardment with the Iran-backed Shiite terrorist organisation Hezbollah on the northern border with Lebanon, Israel faced the possibility of a multi-front war.
On Wednesday, Hezbollah claimed to have launched missiles at Israel. The Israeli military claimed to have retaliated by attacking one of the group’s military observation positions in southern Lebanon. On Tuesday, when the army reported that munitions were launched in the direction of the Golan Heights, Israel and terrorists in Syria engaged in a firefight.
