The Opposition-led INDIA bloc’s coordination committee met and made many important decisions, one of which was to boycott television programmes hosted by specific news anchors. These news anchors have been put on a list by the parliamentary subcommittee on media, whose programmes they have opted to refrain from appearing on as panelists.
“The coordination committee authorised the sub-group on media to decide upon the names of the anchors on whose shows none of the INDIA parties will send their representatives,” Congress general secretary KC Venugopal mentioned this post the official meeting hosted on Wednesday.
The list, which is shared by many INDIA coalition member parties, includes the names of 14 news anchors, including Arnab Goswami of Republic Network, Sudhir Chaudhary of Aaj Tak, Amish Devgan of News18 Hindi, Navika Kumar of TimesNow, and Gaurav Sawant of IndiaToday Group.
The BJP is thought to have control of public opinion through major media outlets, which the INDIA bloc hopes to influence. For this campaign and to spread their message, the opposition parties have relied on independent journalists and social media.
“There are some anchors who conduct provocative debates. We’ll make a list of them and INDIA alliance partners will stop going to their shows” AAP MP Raghav Chadha mentioned earlier.
In addition to discussing seat-sharing issues for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the coordination committee conference also formed state-level committees to consult with INDIA parties in the states. The coalition’s first public gathering will take held in Bhopal, according to the 12 member parties present.
Prior to the gathering, the BJP sparked a controversy by stating that the Opposition regularly holds meetings to discuss “abolishing Hinduism.”
“The INDIA alliance meeting is taking place to abolish Hindus, which is evident from what a Tamil Nadu minister had said,” Union minister Giriraj Singh spoke to reporters by giving reference to DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin’s latest comment on Sanatan Dharma.
