    India crowned victorious at the 1st ODI match against Sri Lanka; Virat Kohli etches his 72nd international century

    India emerged victorious at the first ever match of the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Virat Kohli surpassed all with his batting stance marking his 73rd international hundred to beat Sri Lanka by 67 runs and taking the lead with 1-0 lead in the scheduled three-match series in Guwahati on Tuesday. Kohli’s 113 off 87 balls contributed to India’s grand total as 373 for 7 after choosing to bat.

    Skipper Rohit Sharma minted 83 off 67 balls on the hindsight Shubman Gill too faced 60 balls scoring a whopping 70 runs. Umran Malik (3/57) and Mohammad Siraj (2/30) in a partnership handled five wickets for Sri Lanka to 306 for 8 in 50 overs. Sri Lankan Captain Dasun Shanaka scored 108 not out which is the best score for the match topped by the captain for Sri Lanka and Pathum Nissanaka minted 72.
    To sum it up, India made 373/7 in 50 overs (Virat Kohli 113, Rohit Sharma 83, Shubman Gill 60 were the top performers).

    While Sri Lanka scored 306 for 8 in 50 overs (Dasun Shanaka 108 not out, Pathum Nissanka 72, Dhananjaya de Silva 47; Umran Malik 3/57 and Mohammed Siraj 2/30 outperformed).
