Politicians job is to run a system properly in terms of finance, development and security etc that benefits people as well as the nation. But in majorly in India, it is not wrong to say that it is a career that people opt for having power and money. Sometimes these politicians go beyond that they forget about social moral values that necessary to implement.
Raza Khan, Samajwadi Party leader did something utterly shameful that not suits any cultural person. While a poll campaigning in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh against his female opponent and former Bollywood actress Jaya Prada, Raza Khan said that the colour of the underwear of a Bharatiya Janata Party leader is khaki. It is because workers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, the ideologue of the BJP, are often seen in khaki shorts.
His actual words were,
“Inke ke neeche kaunderwear khaki rang ka hai”.
It is Jaya Prada who is contesting against him from Rampur. While addressing the people of Rampur during the rally, he said,
“You took 17 years to recognise the person, and I realised in just 17 days that the underwear the person wears is khaki.”
After his disgraceful remarks, Raza Khan has been charged in a police complaint and has also been asked for an explanation by the National Commission for Women. After that, Election Commission barred him from campaigning for 72 hours. After this action against him, Raza Khan immediately turned his words and said he referred to man not to a woman. He said,
“I will not contest the polls if proven guilty…I haven’t named or insulted anyone and I know what I should say. I was a nine-time MLA from Rampur and have been a minister. I know what to say.”
On the other hand, Jaya Prada said, “Because if this man wins, what will happen to democracy? There’ll be no place for women in society. Where will we go? Should I die, then you’ll be satisfied? You think that I’ll get scared and leave Rampur? But I won’t leave.”
