India’s best all-rounder across all formats, Ravindra Jadeja, was spotted hobbling with a hamstring ache. England captain Ben Stokes’ powerful shot to eliminate him not only turned the tide of the opening Test, but it may also determine the outcome of the series.
It’s possible that Jadeja, who scored the highest for India in the first innings (87 runs) and claimed five wickets in two innings, tore his hamstring when he tried to go for a quick single.
“We’ll see. I honestly haven’t had a chance to speak to the physio as yet. Once I get back, I’ll speak to him and see what it is about,” Dravid averred during the press meet post-match.
Starting on February 2 in Visakhapatnam, the first and second Tests have a relatively short turnaround time of just four days.
It’s still unclear if Jadeja will go to National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru or Vizag with the team.
Jadeja’s back spasms on the morning of the first Test in Centurion had also caused him to miss a Test match last month in South Africa.
