Ravindra Jadeja won millions of Indian hearts when he gave the brilliant performance on the field in the first semi-final of the world cup 2019. Although India lost the match from New Zealand in the first semi-final match of the cricket world cup 2019, Ravindra Jadeja, also known as Jaddu not only showed his brilliant performance with bat and ball but also did the best fielding.
He shows his versatility and gave a tight slap on the faces of those who criticized him for not being a complete batsman and bowler. When Jadeja was selected by the BCCI in the Indian team amidst of the world cup tournament, many criticized the decision and one of them was Sanjay Manjrekar. He wrote on Twitter, “I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner.”
To this Ravindra Jadeja gave him a befitting reply, he asked him to respect a player.
But in the first semi-final match against New Zealand in the world cup, Ravindra Jadeja made 77 runs off 59 balls at the crucial time when it was seeming impossible for India to even make 150 runs against New Zealand. he also showed magic with the ball when he took one wicket by giving a lesser number of runs as compared to other bowlers except for Bhuvaneshwar Kumar who took 3 wickets by giving 43 runs.
As per as the fielding is concerned, he emerged as the best fielder in the tournament who only played 2 matches and saved maximum 41 runs. he also took 3 important catches in these two matches against Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
Ravindra Jadeja emerged as the star of the Indian team. At one point in the match, he let every Indian expect the unexpected but soon the Indian dream of lifting the world cup trophy shattered when he and Mahendra Singh Dhoni got out. The final match of the world cup will be played on July 14, 2019, between New Zealand and the team who will win the second semi-final match which is scheduled to play between Australia and England.
