Four days ago , director James Gunn said that after Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3 it will be ready as far as he is concerned. Now he comes back to that again.
Although the third part is a continuation of the earlier story and should also complete the adventures around the ‘A-holes’, fans are already wondering what will happen next and whether Gunn will remain involved.
He is known for being incredibly active on social media and connecting with fans about all of his work. This recently included a fan asking him if he would consider making GotG 4. Gunn’s reply was clear: “It is envisaged that this will be my last” .

Yet he also cautiously says that you should never say ‘never’, but for the time being he closes the story that he originally wanted to tell with part 3.
This of course does not mean that the characters disappear from the screen afterwards. It is quite possible that they will just get a fourth movie if there is enough interest from Marvel to continue.
And should Gunn stand firm and pass the direction, he can always remain involved as a producer. For example, he supervised the Guardians during their appearances in Infinity War and Endgame and he currently does the same with Thor: Love And Thunder .
