The sci-fi film is helmed by Nag Ashwin, also known for his directorial works such as Yevade Subramanyam and Mahanati. He is now set for another project that is creating significant buzz. particularly with the recent unveiling of Amitabh Bachchan’s character, Ashwatthama. Drawing inspiration from the Mahabharata, Ashwatthama is portrayed as an immortal character awaiting the emergence of an avatar. With a reported budget of $75 million, the film is set to be one of the most ambitious and expensive Indian productions to date.

The movie makers released a new video stating ‘Introducing Ashwatthama’ on Sunday night. In the video, an older Amitabh talks to a young boy about how he’s been alive for a long time. There are scenes from his life, and one of them shows him looking younger than usual. He has his usual serious expression, with a mustache and long, black hair. There’s a bright yellow stone on his forehead, which might be what gives him his immortal powers.
The short video, just 21 seconds long, was shown during an exciting Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Amitabh also took to X and shared his character poster from the film, with the caption “It’s been an experience for me like no other. The mind to think such a product, the execution the exposure to modern technology and above all the company of colleagues with stratospheric Super star presence.”

Initially slated for release on May 9, Kalki 2898 AD has experienced delays, with speculation about its new release date which may be announced soon.
