Kapil Sharma and Hina Khan have been summoned to testify before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) following allegations that claimed other celebrities are being investigated by the agency in relation to the Mahadev money-laundering case. After actor Ranbir Kapoor was called the day before, their names started to circulate.

ANI tweeted the update, “ED has summoned comedian Kapil Sharma and actor Huma Qureshi in connection with the Mahadev betting app case: ED Sources.” Actor Hina Khan has also been called for the same purpose, as per a report of News18.

According to reports, Ranbir Kapoor had already been contacted to ascertain his understanding of the origin of the funds used for the advertising of the betting app. According to a News18 report, the organisation has requested that the actor appear before their Raipur, Chhattisgarh, headquarters on October 6.

“Ranbir Kapoor has been summoned to understand the betting business transactions. At this point, he has not been summoned as accused. His questioning is important to know his knowledge about the money sources he received. It will possibly indicate the plans of the promoters and their association,” an source close to the ED mentioned.

It further added, “Ranbir Kapoor may not be part of a conspiracy but very important to understand the scam.”

According to sources at the ED, this procedure might involve up to 17 Bollywood superstars. For attending or providing entertainment at the wedding of the company’s CEO, Sourabh Chandrakar, in February of this year, as well as the company’s success celebration in September of 2022, this includes Shraddha Kapoor, Tiger Shroff, Sonakshi Sinha, and others.

A brief: Mahadev betting app scam

The Mahadev software allowed for unlawful wagering on a variety of online activities, including badminton, tennis, football, cricket, card games, and chance games. Saurabh and Ravi Uppal, who reside in Dubai, are said to manage the app. The firm is based in Dubai, where gambling is permitted; in India, it is not.
