Recently, Australia returned 29 antiquities to India in a historic move. According to the reports, antiquities are according to themes and have ranged in six broad categories. Which are Lord Shiva and his disciples, worshipping Shakti, Lord Vishnu and his forms, Jain tradition, portraits, and decorative objects. It also includes Shiva Bhairav, a 9th-10th century CE Rajasthan Sandstone, the child-saint Sambandar from 12th century CE, and seated Jina sculpture from Mount Abu region, Rajasthan. The objects received are sculptures and paintings made out of a variety of materials -, such as sandstone, marble, bronze, brass, paper.
Let us tell you that these antiquities that were sent to India are from various states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and West Bengal. And represents a large geographical region in India. However it was not the first time, India earlier also, brought many other antiquities from different nations. The recent ones were 157 antiquities from the US.
After receiving the antiquities Prime Minister PM Modi also thanked Australia at the virtual summit. He said “I would like to especially thank you for taking the initiative to return ancient Indian artifacts. Among them are hundreds of years old idols and pictures illegally removed from Rajasthan, West Bengal, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh along with many other Indian states,”

Soon after Prime Minister, Narendra Modi got these 29 antiquities he inspected each one of them. This gesture was applauded by the filmmaker Karan Johar who took to his Twitter handle to praise the Prime minister. Retweeting the video Karan wrote “News that will fill every Indians heart with utmost pride @narendramodi. 29 antiquities repatriated to India from Australia.”

Talking about Karan’s recent work, he produced Gehraiyaan, which was Shakun Batra’s directorial that featured Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday, Siddhanth Chaturvedi, and Dhairya Karwa. These days the director is busy directing and producing Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. That will feature Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in lead roles.
