Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar shared character-specific motion and solo posters for her upcoming movie The Archies on her Instagram account. Suhana Khan, Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Vedang Raina, Yuvraj Menda, Mihir Ahuja, and Dot, alias Aditi Saigal, all make their Bollywood debuts in the movie.
Archie Andrews, played by Agastya, is played by Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson in the movie. Zoya shared his posters and she wrote, “Meet Archie Andrews. The heartthrob of Riverdale who isn’t sure where his heart belongs.” Shweta Bachchan commented, “Yay.” Navya Nanda and Karan Johar landed red heart emoticons.
Suhana who will portray Veronica Lodge wrote, “Sassy to classy and everything in between, the world better watch out for Veronica Lodge ‘cause here she comes.” Karan commented to her post, “Omg! Best morning ! The kids look great!!! Suhana so excited.” Kareena added, “Gooooooo Zoyaaaaa. Best Best.” Shweta landed heart emoticons.
Khushi who will be seen as Betty Cooper wrote in her description, “She might be the girl next door but she’s not one to be taken granted for.” Shweta and Guneet Monga reacted.
Vedang as Reggie Mantle shared a post, “The only thing Reggie loves more than himself, is him winning. Beware, he’ll charm his way through your heart. “Meet Dilton, Riverdale’s own walking library. When he isn’t hanging with the gang, he’s inventing to make the world a better place. Get set to geek out with him,” read Yuvraj Menda’s post caption, who will be seen in the grab of Dilton Doiley.
Dot as Ethel Muggs shared “Ethel Muggs knows how to keep things quirky, witty and crafty! Whipping out sweetness is her superpower, so catch her in The Archies. Mihir as Jughead Jones wrote, “The only food Jughead Jones share with you is food for thought. Hide your burgers and milkshakes, Jughead and The Archies arrive soon.”
Zoya previously discussed the actors’ preparation for their roles in the movie with Film Companion. She remarked,“They had to read the comics obviously, because it’s not their generation, I gave them countless films to watch from the period, teenage films, musicals, just different tonalities. They did acting workshops, dance workshops, singing workshops, they had to do skating, swimming, cycling.”
She further added, “Then we did an entire workshop with them with camera, had to explain to them because it is a very technical job. So catching the light, hitting the mark, what does it mean to give shoulder, to be in a close up, to be in a wide shot, action continuity, what is set protocol. They went to school. They came to set trained.”
