Ace Badminton players Chirag Shetty, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy recorded a momentous win against world no. 1 Indonesian pair 17-21, 21-13, 21-14 in men’s doubles match to fetch the prestigious Korea Open Super 500 badminton title. Post loosing the first set, the Indian players have held steady and gained momentum in the next sets to defeat Fajar ALfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto. The star players have now joined in the final game against the world number two Chinese duo of Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang on Saturday.

The world No. 3 Indians, who were competing in their fourth annual final, outlasted two-time world championship bronze medalists Alfian and Ardianto in an intense summit match of the Super 500 badminton competition by scores of 17-21, 21-13, and 21-14.

The Indians started off a little hesitant because they were behind in the first game, but they came back in the last minutes, cutting a 10-19 deficit to six points before losing.

However, they gained momentum in the second game and then controlled the rest of the match to win.

As Satwik and Chirag allowed their opponents to lead by seven points at the half, mistakes started to creep in.

The Indonesians moved ahead to 16-7 after Ardianto slammed one into the centre, despite the Indians scoring a few quick points.

The two couples engaged in some spectacular rallies to get the second game off to an even keel. As they began to control the rallies, the Indians increased the intensity and speed of their play.

They reached a score of 17-11 thanks to Chirag’s cross-court return from the front court.

After the game resumed, a Chirag interception helped the Indians maintain a 13-10 advantage. Nothing was going their way, so Alfian and Ardianto appeared to be faint shadows.

They lost one before winning the next, then they celebrated by breaking out into a gangnam dance.
