The bad response to Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’ has reportedly prompted theater owners to cancel and reduce the number of shows.

Only a day after the movies were released, report says that theater owners have taken a call to reduce the number of screenings cross country refering to ‘low footfalls’. Around 1300 shows of the Laal Singh Chaddha and 1000 shows of Raksha Bandhan have been reduced across the nation. The report on Bollywood Hungama likewise claimed that many shows on Friday morning were even dropped owing to a no-show.

Talking about the box office numbers, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ saw an estimated 40% drop in collections on Friday, while ‘Raksha Bandhan’ had a 30% drop in its collections. While the Aamir and Kareena Kapoor Khan movie saw not many takers in mass circuits, Akshay and Bhumi Pednekar’s family movie couldn’t attract viewers in metro cities.

The report further proceeds to state that cinema owners have ‘voluntarily reduced’ the number of shows allotted to both the festive releases to increment occupancy on limited screens.

It additionally states that the movies were released with around 10,000 shows across the nation. Because of poor footfalls, the exhibitors reportedly decided to reduce the screenings of the two movies to ‘save up on the overheads’.
