National Film Award-winning director Mani Ratnam’s titular movie Ponniyin Selvan 1, also known as PS 1 has been burgeoning well in the box office in comparison to Vikram Vedha starring Hrithik Roshan. Both the mega budget films have been in the race to chase maximum audience at the ticket window.

Expert trade analyst, Trinath mentioned in a statement that, “PS1 is having an excellent run at the box office. In seven days, the film has grossed more than ₹325 crore and is set to cross ₹350 this weekend… This is the sixth Tamil film to enter ₹300 crore club after movies such as 2.0, Enthiran, Kabali, Bigil and Vikram.“

Taking cue form the data released by the trade sources, it has been found that PS1 has earned a gross of Rs 325 crore worldwide and have successfully etched the rankings by becoming the third highest-grossing Tamil film ever. In the span of 6 six, the film has gained a whopping Rs 318 crore globally and collected Rs 130 crore from Tamil Nadu alone. While Vikram Vedha, faced a downfall with a domestic earning of Rs 61.11 crore, since release.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to announce the box-office performance of Vikram Vedha. The tweet read, “#VikramVedha faces a decline on [second] Fri… Better numbers on [second] Sat and Sun are a must… #Mumbai [₹ 17.55 cr] and #DelhiUP [₹ 12.64 cr] circuits are key contributors… [Week 2] Fri 2.54 cr. Total: ₹ 61.11 cr. #India biz.”

PS1 is an epic period film based and inspired from the novel authored and conceptualized by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The movie revolves around Raja Raja Chola 1 and Pandyas who are intending to surpass the rule of Cholas. The movie features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Chiyaan Vikram, Karthi, Prakash Raj, Trisha Krishnan, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Aishwarya Lekshmi in main roles.

The fronting film, Vikram Vedha, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan in the pivotal roles, co-starring Radhika Apte and Rohit Saraf, has been inspired from a Tamil film.
