WhatsApp Channels, a recently introduced function by Meta, has been available for a week in India and is growing in use.After joining Channels on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has amassed more over a million followers by Wednesday. According to Meta, a number of Indian superstars have started WhatsApp Channels, including Vijay Deverakonda, Diljit Dosanjh, Akshay Kumar, and the Indian cricket team.

Meta averred WhatsApp Channels is “a private way for people to receive updates that matter to them, right within WhatsApp.”
The function, which is distinct from the users’ conversations and acts as a one-way broadcast mechanism, will disseminate updates on a new tab named Updates. It should be noticed that Updates have completely taken the role of the previous Status tab. WhatsApp, however, displays the elliptical Status updates at the top of the Updates page.
According to Meta, WhatsApp Channels would be made available in more than 150 nations, including India, over the course of the upcoming weeks. Users will also be able to browse popular and new channels depending on their number of followers and their level of activity.
Is the passage a secure option?
According to Meta, their goal is to “create the most exclusive broadcast service available.” According to the business, both administrators and followers’ private information is secured, as is the decision of who to follow. The admin and other followers will not see the phone number or profile picture of channel followers.
Eligibility of WhatsApp Channel
The function has started to roll out on WhatsApp, although not everyone has access to it yet. WhatsApp wants you to sign up for a waitlist right now, and it will let you know when WhatsApp Channels become accessible.
On a channel, one may post text, pictures, movies, stickers, and links, and viewers can respond with emojis. Although channel updates are one-way broadcasts and not chats, they do share several aspects with WhatsApp.
Here’s how to create a WhatsApp Channel
Go to the Updates tab and tap on the plus symbol next to WhatsApp Channels when Meta makes it accessible to you. Choose Create Channel, press Continue, and then follow the on-screen instructions by tapping. Create a Channel name that you may modify at any moment. Click Create Channel after adding a channel description and icon.
