Mona Singh is renowned for her powerful on-screen persona and skillful acting. She made a seamless transition from television to movies. She has worked with Aamir Khan on a few films in her repertoire, including 3 Idiots and the most recent Laal Singh Chaddha. Even though the movie bombed at the box office, the actress disclosed that Mr. Perfectionist had called her “Mummy” after the movie.
In Laal Singh Chaddha, Mona Singh portrayed Aamir Khan. The actress’s performance in the movie earned her excellent praise. During a recent conversation with Humans Of Bombay, Mona discussed how the formula from Three Idiots to Laal Singh Chaddha changed.
The actress responded to this in jest, saying, “He started calling me Mummy!” She added, “Aamir sir is so sweet, he called me last year on Mother’s Day. He first sent me a voice note, and I couldn’t believe it at first. I was like, ‘Is he really doing that!’ and then he made a video call.”
She fuirther said, “He was sitting with his mother, and he told me, ‘Mona main apni Ammi ke saath baitha hu, aur hum dono tumhari baatein kar rahe hai. (I am sitting with my mom and both of us are talking about you)”.
“Imagine this coming from him, he doesn’t have to. He made me feel so, so special. That’s the bond we share. I love him, I have immense respect for him,” recounts the actress.
Speaking of her favorite moments from the Laal Singh Chaddha movie sets, the actress revealed, rather ironically, her dying scene. The actress praised the sequence as one of the most “satisfying and fulfilling moments,” adding that everyone was silent when it was over, including the assistant directors, lightmen, setup, and camera assistants.
“We all watched the scene on the monitor, and after five minutes everybody was either crying, clapping or hugging. They were like, ‘Oh we have created magic, this is extraordinary.’ I felt so good, I will never forget that moment,” she further added.
The film featured Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya, and Manav Vij in lead roles.
