Bollywood offers a great selection of movies that are perfect for a patriotic mood. Our filmmakers have crafted stories that help us understand the nation’s pulse over time. If you’re feeling particularly patriotic, here is a selection of the best Indian patriotic movies that practically everyone can enjoy.

    1. Border (1997)

The popular film Border explores the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, providing a realistic cinematic depiction of the actual events that took place during that war. Jackie Shroff, Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, and Akshaye Khanna are among the film’s outstanding cast members. Unquestionably among the greatest Indian Army films ever made!

    2. Swades (2004)

Of all the patriotic movies, Swades, starring Shah Rukh Khan, is without a doubt one of the best choices. It centers on the life of an Indian employee of NASA. He visits India for a short time and returns greatly impacted by the state of his hometown’s population. Driven by a sense of duty, he makes the decision to commit his entire life to the advancement of the area.

    3. Rang De Basanti (2006)

In the film Rang De Basanti, a British documentary filmmaker visits India in order to choose young performers for a movie she is working on about Indian liberation heroes. The film illuminates troubling societal issues that appear to be a fundamental component of India’s intricate structure through its tale.

    4. Sardar Udham (2021)

Sardar Udham, a 2021 film directed by Shoojit Sircar, explores the life of Indian revolutionary Udham Singh. Seeking revenge for the carnage at Jallianwala Bagh, Singh targets Punjab’s lieutenant governor, Michael O’Dwyer. The movie follows Singh’s desperate quest to kill O’Dwyer as payback for the horrific incidents that the British soldiers planned.

    5. Chak De! India (2007)

Chak De! India, with its focus on hockey, the national sport of India, teaches important lessons about patriotism and cultivates a strong sense of love for the nation. The film, which stars Shah Rukh Khan, the King of Bollywood, is an inspirational story that emphasizes the value of unity and pride in one’s country.

    6. Raazi (2018)

Vicky Kaushal and Alia Bhatt feature in one of India’s best patriotic films, Raazi. The story of an Indian girl who becomes a spy and marries a Pakistani military official is skillfully woven throughout. This compelling story reveals the bravery and passion of a young spy who is deeply committed to protecting her nation from outside threats.

    6. The Ghazi Attack (2017)

An excellent addition to Indian nationalistic films is The Ghazi Attack. This film deftly portrays the high-stakes standoff between India’s and Pakistan’s naval forces as they approach conflict. The story develops with a riveting intensity that highlights themes of strategic warfare and patriotism, providing viewers with an engaging cinematic experience.

    7. Lagaan (2001)

One of the best films on our list of patriotic films is Ashutosh Gowariker’s Lagaan, which revolves around a special conflict that takes place on the cricket pitch. The film, which is set in pre-independence India, shows Indian villagers competing against their colonizers in a game they haven’t mastered. Lagaan, a film that is nominated for an Academy Award, masterfully illustrates how the human spirit can overcome hardship.

    8. A Wednesday (2008)

Neeraj Pandey’s A Wednesday, one of the top 10 patriotic films in India, tells the story of a disgruntled regular guy who fights corruption. Despite being fiction, the story is inspired by the Mumbai train bombings of July 11, 2006, highlighting the protagonist’s determination to challenge the broken system.

    9. Lakshya (2004)

Lakshya, one of the top contenders for the Indian Army movie list, started off with low box office receipts but eventually developed a cult following. This story of a carefree kid who finds his purpose upon joining the army is a coming-of-age story that is anchored by Hrithik Roshan’s outstanding performance.

    10. Shershaah (1997)

An Indian Army film called Shershaah tells the story of Captain Vikram Batra’s valiant adventures during the Kargil War. The movie, which stars Sidharth Malhotra, faithfully depicts Batra’s bravery and selflessness. The film is a very moving ode to the valor of our armed men, complete with suspenseful battle scenes
